지난  24일 오후 3시 열린 개소식에는 임대윤 전)대구시당위원장·최고위원, 남칠우 전)대구시당위원장. 임미애 경북도당위원장과 대구지역의 예비후보자, 당원 및 지지자, 지역 주민 등 500여 명이 참석했다.

이날 문재인 전 대통령은 영상을 통해 민주당 대구시당위원장으로써 TK신공항 특별법과 달빛내륙철도 특별법의 통과로 이끌며 대구 발전에 큰 역할을 했다. 대구는 변화 해야 한다. 대구의 변화와 발전은 지역 정치에서 시작되어야 한다. 그 중심에서 강민구 후보가 정치변화와 대구 발전을 이끌어주길 바란다”며 축사를 전했다.
