강민구 대구시의회 부의장이 제8회 전국동시지방선거 대구 수성구청장 출마를 공식 선언했다.

29일 오후 2시, 대구시의회 3층 회의실에서 대구 수성구청장 선거 출마를 선언한 강민구 대구시의회 부의장은 “집행부 견제만으로는 수성구 발전을 위한 활동에 한계를 느껴 구청장 출마에 도전하게 되었다.”고 말했다.

강민구 부의장은 대구시의회 의원직 사퇴 시기에 대해 “최근 민주당이 더욱 엄중한 시스템으로 출마자에 대한 검증 시스템을 가동하고 있다.”면서 “대구시당은 내일 검증 위원회 열고 통과되어 서류를 받아야 시의원직을 사퇴하고 예비후보 등록이 가능하기 때문에 31일 쯤 사퇴할 것”이라고 설명했다.

아울러 그는 더불어민주당 소속으로 대구라는 험지에서 출마하는 것에 대해 “김부겸 총리께서 지지난 총선에서 약 63%의 지지율을 얻었고 저 역시 지난 50.3% 기록했다. 농부가 밭을 탓해서는 안된다고 생각하며 많은 지지자 당선 불가능하다고 생각하지만 저부터 힘을 내겠다.”며 “저 강민구 쫄지않겠다. 열심히 하겠다.”며 지지를 당부했다.
