17일 오전 11시 더불어민주당 대구시당에서 강민구 대구시당위원장의 취임 100일 기자간담회를 개최한 가운데 홍준표 대구시장의 불통에 대한 아쉬움을 드러냈다.

이날 강민구 위원장은 같은 날 수능을 치르는 수험생들에 대한 응원으로 기자회견의 서두를 열었다. 이와 함께 지난 10월 29일 이태원에서 발생한 참사 희생자의 명복을 빌며 “끝까지 진상규명을 위한 노력을 포기하지 않겠다.”라는 입장을 전했다.

강 위원장은 “모두의 대구를 위해 홍준표 시장님께 건의드린다.”면서 “대구 내 정당과 시민사회가 함께하는 ‘대구시정개발협의체’(가칭) 구성을 요청드린다.”고 밝혔다.

아울러 정의당, 진보당, 기본소득당과 대구 시민사회단체에 “함께 고민하고, 비판하고, 대안을 마련해보자.”며  ‘만민공동회’ 구성을 제안하기도 했다.

이 가운데 ‘대구시정개발협의체’(가칭)과 관련 홍준표 대구시장과 사전 논의가 있었는지 묻는 기자의 질문에 “앞서 여러 단체를 방문했고 지금도 계속해서 방문을 이어가고 있다. 그런데 유일하게 방문을 요청하고도 만나지 못한 분이 홍준표 대구시장”이라고 말했다.

강민구 위원장은 “시에 여러 차례 요청했지만 바빠서 면담을 하지 않겠다는 답변을 받았고 홍 시장님을 직접 만난 자리에서 시간을 좀 내달라고 말씀을 드리기도 했지만 흔쾌한 답변을 받지못했다.”고 설명했다.

그러면서 “홍준표 대구시장과 소통할 통로가 없다는 생각이 든다.”면서 “홍 시장님이 마음을 열어주셨으면 좋겠다.”며 아쉬움을 전했다.

한편 만민공동회 구성에 대해서는 “최근 정의당 대구시당을 방문해 대구에서는 영원한 야당인 만큼 서로 힘을 합치자고 말씀을 드렸다.”며 “다른 정당은 아직 찾아뵙지 못했지만 계속해서 만민공동회 구성을 추진할 것이며 구체화되지는 않았지만 오늘은 먼저 알리고 겸손하게 다가가겠다는 의지를 밝힌 것”이라고 덧붙여 말했다.
