권영진 대구시장은 15일 유투브로 생중계된 기자브리핑을 갖고 “수도권이 격상되지 않은 상황에서의 지방 방역만으로는 아무런 의미가 없다”면서 “수도권의 3단계 전제하에 대구시를 비롯한 지방도 별도의 방역 대책을 세워야 할 것”이라고 강력 제안했다.

그러면서 “대구시는 현행 2단계는 유지하되, 수도권이 3단계로 격상하면 그에 따라 대구시도 별도의 방역 대책을 내놓겠다”고 덧붙였다.

권 시장은 “그동안 산발적 집단 감염에도 불구하고 대구는 비교적 안정세를 유지해 왔지만 최근 들어 대구도 엄중한 상황에 이르렀고, 이제 대구나 어디든 안전지대는 없는 상황이 됐다. ”고 강조하고 “여기서 차단하지 못한다면 코로나 유행은 방역 당국이 통제하기 어려워진다”고 강조했다. 그러면서 “대구는 지난 2월보다 어쩌면 더 어려운 상황이 온듯하다. 최대한 막겠지만 지금은 지방만의 노력으로 쉽지 않다”고 수도권의 강화된 방역대책을 재차 주문했다.

한편, 수도권은 그동안 2단계와 2.5단계를 거치면서 사회적 거리두기 정책을 추진해왔지만 아무런 효과를 거두지 못하고 오히려 코로나19 바이러스에 시간만 벌어주었다는 일부 비난을 받아왔다.
