【브레이크뉴스 대구 】이성현 기자= 대구시는 코로나19 장기화로 얼어붙은 취업시장과 구직준비 기회 감소 등으로 취업한파를 겪고 있는 미취업청년의 취업준비와 사회진입활동 응원에 나선다.

대구시는 그 일환으로 20만원 상당의 대구행복페이를 제공하는 ‘대구청년 취업응원카드’를 지원한다고 밝혔다. 대구청년 취업응원카드는 2021년 제1차 대구형 코로나 경제방역 대책 중 정부지원 사각지대 보완을 위한 대구형 버팀목 플러스자금의 하나로 3월 9일부터 19일까지 청년사회진입활동지원시스템(https://youthdream.daegu.go.kr)을 통해 신청하면 된다.

대상자는 대구에 주소를 둔 2020년~2021년 고등학교 및 대학(교) 졸업(예정)자 중 고용보험에 가입되어 있지 않은 미취업청년이면 누구나 신청할 수 있으며, 신청자가 지원규모(15,000명)를 초과하는 경우는 최근 아르바이트 등 일자리를 잃은 경우, 구직활동 기간(졸업연도) 등 우선순위에 따라 선정된다.

코로나19 장기화로 인한 청년층 고용비중은 날로 낮아지고 있다. 청년들의 취업의욕도 낮아져 어느 때보다 힘든 시기를 보내고 있다. 지난 2월 경제사회노동위원회의 ‘코로나19와 청년노동실태 연구 결과’ 발표에 따르면 청년 10명 중 9명은 코로나19로 구직에 어려움을 느끼고 있는 것으로 나타났고, 2020년 말 대구의 20~30대 청년 취업자는 36만 8천명(2021년 1월 대구시 고용동향 / 동북지방통계청)으로 전년대비 1만 5천명이 감소한 것으로 조사됐다.

대구시는 코로나 위기상황을 슬기롭게 극복하기 위해 청년희망공동체차원에서 청년을 응원해왔다. 지난해 3월 청년과 시민이 함께한 ‘1339국민성금모금캠페인’은 나도 지역사회의 일원이라는 청년의 소속감을 고취하는 계기가 되었으며, 5만 5천명이 모금에 참여했다. 6월 지역사회 기부금을 활용해 코로나19로 취업활동에 직격탄을 맞은 미취업청년을 지원한 ‘미취업청년 응원상품권’은 청년의 어려움에 공감하고 격려하는 청년희망공동체의 좋은 사례가 되었다.
 
대구시는 취업응원카드 사업에 참여한 청년들의 순조로운 사회진입을 지원하기 위한 ‘진로탐색’ 특강을 준비 중이다. 4월 온라인으로 지역기업 정보 등 취업, 창업과 관련된 다양한 교육콘텐츠가 제공될 예정인 가운데 청년들이 본인만의 길을 찾을 수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

권영진 대구시장은 “취업응원카드가 코로나 위기 상황에서 어려움을 겪고 있는 청년들에게 지역공동체의 따뜻한 동행과 사회진입을 위한 응원이 되길 바란다”며 “대구의 청년정책을 더 발전시켜 청년이 꿈을 키우는 도시, 청년이 찾아오는 도시 대구를 만들어 가겠다”고 말했다.
