26일 대구시에 따르면 대구는 역대 지방선거에서 전국 평균 대비 투표율이 저조했다.

제4회 전국동시지방선거에서 시도별 투표율 12위를 한 이후, 제5회 지선(전국 평균 54.5%, 대구 45.9%, 16위), 제6회 지선(전국 56.8%, 대구 52.3%, 17위), 제7회 지선(전국 60.2%, 대구 57.3%, 16위)에서 모두 최하위권의 투표율을 보여왔다. 

또한 2013년 도입된 사전투표율 또한 전국 평균에 못 미치고 있다.

게다가 이번 제8회 지선에서는 역대 지선 대비 무투표 선거구가 크게 증가해(구청장 2, 시의원 20) 시민들의 무관심 및 투표율이 저조할 것으로 관측되고 있다.

권영진 대구시장은 “지방선거는 우리 손으로 우리 동네 일꾼을 뽑는 중요하고 의미 있는 행위로 나와 이웃, 우리 아이들의 삶과 직결되는 아주 중요한 일임을 시민들이 인식하고 적극 투표에 참여해 주실 것”을 당부했다.

한편 6월 1일 선거일 투표가 어려운 시민들은 오는 27일부터 28일 이틀간 별다른 신청 없이 전국 읍․면․동에 설치되어 있는 사전투표소에서 투표할 수 있으며 코로나19 확진자 및 격리자는 28일 오후 6시 30부터 오후 8시까지 투표가 가능하다.

대구에는 142개소(읍․면․동별 1개소)에서 실시되며, 주민등록증, 운전면허증, 학생증 등 본인임을 확인할 수 있는 신분증을 가지고 가면 된다. 코로나19 확진자일 경우 보건소에서 발송한 격리통지 문자 등을 투표사무원에게 보여 주면 투표가 가능하다.
