우리 사회가 갈수록 다양해지고 복잡해지면서 인성교육의 중요성이 부각됨에 따라 이에 대한 학교의 역할과 책무성이 증대되고 있는 가운데 강은희 대구시교육감은 제11대 대구시교육감 공약이행계획에서 ‘따뜻한 마음을 키워 올바른 인성을 기르겠습니다.’를 첫 번째 공약으로 제시했다.

강 교육감은 이를 위한 정책 과제로 ‘교육공동체의 심리ㆍ정서 회복을 위한 마음교육’을 올해 하반기부터 준비하여 내년부터 실시할 예정이며 이번 연수는 이러한 공약이행계획에 발맞추어 ‘따뜻한 마음을 키우는 인성교육’ 실천과 아이들의 심리ㆍ정서 회복을 위한 ‘마음교육’의 조속한 안착을 위해 마련된 것이라고 밝혔다.

12일에는 학교에서 인성교육 업무를 담당하고 있는 교사 127명을 대상으로 ‘건강하게 감정을 표현하는 교실 만들기’, ‘마음챙김 명상으로 교실 속 터닝 포인트 만들기’ 등을 주제로 한 강의가 진행되었다. 

  연수에 참가한 교사들은 대구시교육청에서 개발한 ‘감정조절’, ‘마음챙김 명상’ 등 생활 속 마음돌봄 프로그램의 활용 사례를 함께 나누었으며, 실습을 통해 학생들이 자신의 감정과 마음을 다스리고 타인과 건강한 관계를 맺을 수 있는 ‘마음교육’의 방법을 함께 찾아보는 시간을 가졌다.

19일에는 학교 관리자 70명을 대상으로 ‘주제별 인성교육 프로그램 효과성 검증으로 학교 인성교육 Re: 디자인하기’, ‘학교 일상회복을 위한 마음챙김 명상’ 등에 대한 강의가 이루어질 예정이다.

이를 통해 교사들의 ‘마음교육’ 실천을 지원하기 위한 학교 관리자로서의 역할과 학생들의 일상회복을 지원하기 위해 학교 인성교육이 나아가야 할 방향에 대해 심도 있는 논의를 진행한다.

  강은희 교육감은 “코로나19 상황을 겪으면서 우리 사회에서 인성교육의 가치와 덕목이 더욱 중요해지고 있다.”며 “이번 연수를 통해 선생님들이 아이들의 마음을 움직이는 인성교육을 실천하는데 많은 도움이 되기를 기대한다. 더불어 앞으로 도입될 마음교육을 통해 아이들의 심리ㆍ정서 회복과 사회성 함양을 지원할 수 있도록 적극 노력하겠다.”고 말했다.
