【브레이크뉴스 대구】박은정 기자=대구시는 28일 지자체 최초로 미국 항공우주분야 전문기업 벨 텍스트론과 첨단항공모빌리티 산업육성을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다고 28일 밝혔다.
벨은 텍사스주 포트워스에 본사를 둔 미국 항공우주 제조기업으로 세계 최초로 민간용 헬기를 개발한 글로벌 기업이며 한국에서는 최초의 대통령 전용 헬기(UH-1H)와 한국전쟁 당시 부상병 수송헬기(H-13)의 제조사로 알려져 있다.
최근 개발 중인 ‘APT-70’ 드론은 최고 시속 160km, 비행거리 56km, 최대 중량 170kg으로 의료, 재난, 구조, 군수, 물자 수송 등 다양하게 활용되도록 설계돼 있다.
대구시는 벨 텍스트론과의 업무협약을 계기로 무인 물류 배달에서부터 무인항공 서비스, 첨단항공모빌리티 산업 육성에 이르기까지 다양한 협력 방안들을 논의할 계획이다.
특히, 대구시의 도심항공모빌리티(UAM) 서비스의 실증-시범도시-상용화 등 단계별 추진에 있어 벨과 협력해 화물 운송 및 여객 서비스를 선도적으로 추진할 수 있을 것으로 예상하고 있다.
홍준표 대구시장은 “미국의 3대 헬리콥터 제조사 중 하나이며 세계 최초로 민간용 헬기를 개발한 기업과 국내 지자체 중 최초로 도심항공교통(UAM) 분야 글로벌 네트워크를 구축하는 계기를 마련하게 됐다”며, “향후 글로벌 도시 간 협력 네트워크를 확대해 도심항공교통분야를 선도하고 관련산업도 적극적으로 육성할 계획”이라고 밝혔다.
