12일 오전 9시 30분 경상북도선관위에 경북교육감 후보 등록을 마친 임준희 후보는 이날 자신의 지지자들 앞에서 “쇠퇴하는 경북교육이 우뚝 설 수 있는 대전환의 시기가 왔다. 교육감이 바뀌면 경북교육이 바뀌고, 아이들의 미래가 바뀐다.”며 본격적인 선거전에 돌입하는 입장을 밝혔다.

후보 등록 이후 임준희 후보는 캠프 인사들 및 지지자들과 함께 안동 장날을 맞은 신시장으로 이동해 지역민들에게 안동 출신의 경북교육감 후보이자 아이들 교육을 잘 할 자신이 있는 교육정책전문가임을 강조하면서 지지를 호소했다.

아울러 안동 신시장 일대를 돈 임후보는 출신 학교인 안동고, 풍산중, 그리고 폐교가 된 풍양초 등을 방문하며 일정을 소화했다.
