【브레이크뉴스 대구】박은정 기자= 대구시는 8개 구·군과 함께 19일 대·중소 유통업계와 지역유통업 발전 및 소비자 편익 향상을 위한 대형마트 의무휴업일 평일 전환 추진 협약서를 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 협약은 지역의 대·중소 유통업계 간 상생협력을 통한 발전 및 소비자 편익 향상을 위해 대형마트 의무휴업일을 평일로 전환하는 것에 대한 취지와 필요성에 공감대가 형성돼 추진하게 됐다.

협약에 따라 중소 유통업체는 경쟁력 확보에 노력하고, 대형 유통업체 의무휴업일을 평일로 바꾸는데 협력하고 지역 소비자 권익증진 및 변화하는 소비 패턴에 따른 자기경쟁력 확보에 노력할 것을 약속했다.

또 대형 유통업체는 중소 유통업체가 제안한 사항에 적극 협조하기로 했다. 대형마트 전단광고에 중소 유통업체 홍보, 전통시장·슈퍼마켓 고객에 대한 대형마트 주차장 무료 이용 등의 상생 방안이 제시됐다.

대구시는 대·중소 유통업체 간의 원만한 합의를 통한 대형마트의 휴업일 평일전환에 필요한 행정·정책적 지원에 적극 협조할 것을 약속했다.

홍준표 대구시장은 “최근 유통환경의 변화로 인해 대형마트 공휴일 의무휴업의 효과성에 의문이 제기되고 있고, 과도한 영업규제라는 목소리가 있다”며, “의무휴업일을 평일로 전환함으로써 시민들에게 쇼핑 편익을 제공하고, 각 유통업계 간에는 상생협력 관계를 새롭게 정립해 지역상권의 활성화와 발전을 도모하겠다”고 말했다.

한편 이날 '대형마트 의무휴업일 평일 전환 추진 협약식’에 반대하며 시위에 나선 민주노총 소속 대형마트 노조 관계자 20여 명이 연행된 것으로 알려진다.

홍 시장은 페이스북을 통해 "뜬금없이 민노총 소속 대형마트 일부 직원들이 시청사에 난입하여, 시 강당을 점거하고 공공기물을 파손하고 이를 저지하는 시 공무원들에게 폭언하고 협박을 하는 일이 발생했다."고 말했다.

이어 "자기들 본사에 항의할 일을 뜬금없이 시청사에 난입하여 공공기물을 파손하고 공무원을 협박하고 시청사를 강제 점거 하는 것은 아주 중대한 범죄"라고 덧붙였다.

그러면서 "일벌백계하지 않으면, 앞으로도 이런 일이 일어날 수밖에 없기 때문에 경찰에 엄중히 대처해 달라고 요청했다"고 밝혔다.
