25일 오전 11시 김정기 행정부시장은 대구지방환경청장, 서구 부구청장 등과 함께 분홍빛 폐수가 유출된 대구염색산단 하천 현장을 찾아 점검에 나섰다.

시는 관계기관과 합동점검반을 구성하고 염색산단내 폐수유출 의심 13개 사업장에 대한 정밀조사를 실시할 방침이라고 밝혔다.

폐수가 유출된 현장은 지난달 8일 보랏빛 폐수가 흘러나온 장소와 동일한 곳으로 비슷한 사례가 5차례 반복된 것으로 알려진다.

앞선 사고에서 서구청 등 관련 기관은 시료를 체증했지만 별다른 특이점을 찾지 못했다. 당시 환경당국에서는 모니터링을 강화하고 유사 사건 발생 시 공동 대응에 나선다는 방침을 전했지만 한 달여 만에 또 다시 폐수 유출 사고가 발생하면서 안일한 대처로 사안을 키웠다는 비판이 이어진다.

김정기 대구시행정부시장은 “하천에 유출되는 폐수의 원인을 파악하여 시민들의 불안을 해소하고 신뢰받는 행정이 되도록 최선의 노력을 하겠다”며 “폐수 유출 경로를 끝까지 추적하겠다”는 입장을 전했다.
