국민의힘 윤석열 대통령 후보와 국민의당 안철수 후보가 3일 새벽 전격 회동으로 후보 단일화에 합의한 가운데 국민의힘 이준석 대표가 대구 중‧남구 보궐선거에 출마하는 국민의당 후보에 대해 “지원은 불가능 하다”는 입장을 밝혔다.

3일 오전 국민의힘 대구시당에서 열린 지역 기자간담회를 통해 이준석 대표는 “대구 중‧남구 보궐선거에서 무소속으로 뛰고 계신 후보들 중 상당수가 우리당에 합류 의사를 표하고 계신다.”면서 “저희가 무공천을 선언한 것은 선거에 대해 개입하지 않겠다는 것을 의미하기 때문에 국민의당 후보에 대한 언급이나 지원은 불가능 할 것.”이라고 설명했다.

한편 이날 이준석 대표는 앞서 권영세 국민의힘 총괄선대본부장이 이번 재보궐선거에서 탈당 후 무소속 출마자들의 복당을 불허하겠다고 밝힌 의견과 다소 엇갈리는 입장을 내비쳐 눈길을 끌었다.
