시는 올해 수소 승용차 68대와 수소 버스 20대 등 총 88대의 수소차를 보급할 계획이다. 시민들의 구매 부담을 줄이기 위해 지난해 하반기 대폭 상향한 보조금 수준을 올해도 전국 최고 수준으로 유지하기로 했다.

차종별 보조금 지원액은 수소 승용차 ‘디 올 뉴 넥쏘’가 대당 3,750만 원, 수소 고상버스 ‘유니버스’가 대당 4억 1,000만 원이다.

지원 대상은 신청일 기준 포항시에 90일 이상 연속 거주한 개인과 법인·기업, 지방공공기관 및 지방공기업 등이다. 신청은 수소차 판매대리점에서 차량 계약 후 보조금 지원 신청서를 작성하면 되며, 보조금은 접수 순서에 따라 지급된다. 다만, 대상자로 선정된 이후 2개월 이내 차량 출고가 가능해야 한다.

포항시는 차량 보급과 함께 수소차 이용 여건 개선을 위한 충전 인프라 확충에도 속도를 내고 있다. 현재 포항장흥수소충전소의 수소 판매가격을 kg당 1만 1,900원으로 인하해 운영 중이며, 이는 기존 대비 700원 낮아진 금액이다. 시는 수소 연료비 부담 완화를 위해 충전사업자와 지속적인 협의를 이어가며 추가적인 가격 인하 방안도 검토하고 있다.

아울러 올해 연말에는 영일만4산업단지 공영차고지에 액화수소충전소를 준공해 북부권 수소차 이용자들의 접근성과 편의성을 크게 높일 계획이다.

포항시 관계자는 “탄소중립 실현을 위해 친환경 수소 모빌리티로의 전환은 선택이 아닌 필수”라며 “공격적인 보조금 지원과 선제적인 충전 인프라 구축을 통해 시민들이 불편 없이 수소차를 이용할 수 있는 환경을 조성해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

A Pohang city official said, “In order to achieve carbon neutrality, the transition to eco-friendly hydrogen mobility is not an option but a necessity,” and added, “We will create an environment where citizens can use hydrogen cars without inconvenience through aggressive subsidy support and preemptive construction of charging infrastructure.”
