기자의 생각으로는 얼마 전까지만 해도 여론에서 크게 앞섰던 홍준표 후보에 당원들의 마음도 많이 가 있었던 듯싶다. 그러다 최근 들어 윤 당선인과 박 전 대통령의 만남이 이뤄지다 보니 박 전 대통령을 여전히 마음에 두고 있는 노년층을 중심으로 박심이 회자되고 있고, 거기에 윤 당선인과 소통 창구 역할이 기대되는 김재원 후보의 지지율 상승까지 이어지면서 추이를 더 지켜보는 쪽으로 선회하는 듯 보인다.

세 사람에 대하여 어떤 시각을 가지고 있는지 물었다. A 당원을 비롯한 대부분의 당원들의 생각은 비슷함을 넘어 너무나 많은 부분에서 생각이 같았다. 특히, 부정적 인식 측면은 거의 같은 생각을 가지고 있었다.

유영하 후보에 대해서는 예상만큼 호의적이지 않았다. 가장 많은 비토는 “박근혜 전 대통령을 두 번 죽이러 나온 사람”이라는 평가였다. 특히 중남구 지역 당원 B씨는 “자신이 정치에 뜻이 있었다면 대구시장 선거에는 나오지 말았어야 한다. 대구를 더 공부하고 차기 선거에 준비하는 것이 박 전 대통령의 정치 재개를 진정으로 돕는 길”이라고 했다. 

다른 당원 C씨 역시 “대구가 박 전 대통령이라고 해서 예전과 같은 생각을 가지고 있지 않다. 반 적 대통령이라면 다 되는 것처럼 행동해선 안된다. 대구가 박근혜 전 대통령의 그늘 아래서 얼마나 더 희생해야 하느냐”고 토로했다. 일부 다른 당원들은 유영하 후보의 대구 발전 정책 준비 상황에 의문을 제기했다. 대구에 대한 고민을 어느 정도나 했는지 토론회 때 보겠다는 말도 곁들였다.
