이를 위해 그는 “당원들과의 직접 소통과 참여로 당원 중심의 민주당으로 만들고 대구의 정치적 도약을 위해 지구당 부활, 권역별 비례제 혹은 석패율제 도입 등의 정치 개혁, 대구‧경북 비례국회의원 각 1명 배정 등을 통한 전략을 마련해서 대구를 중앙당이 위로하는 험지가 아니라 구체적인 지원을 할 수 있는 지역으로 만들겠다.”며 “반드시 관철시키도록 최선을 다하겠다.”고 거듭 강조했다.

또한 “정책위원회 구성과 함께 언론사 정기간담회 등을 통한 상시적인 소통으로 존재감을 제고하고 시민사회와의 네트워크 등을 통해 대구현안에 밝고 대안을 제시하는 유능한 대구민주당으로 탈바꿈하겠다.”고 전하며 아울러 “대구민주당 2만 당원 시대 총선후보 조기발굴 등을 통해 승리하는 2024년 총선을 준비하겠다.”는 포부를 전했다.

이날 권택흥 시당위원장 후보는 대구경북 통합신공항 문제와 관련 “제가 위원장이 되면 딱 ‘이렇게 하겠습니다.’라고 말씀을 드리기는 어렵다. 다만 이재명 의원이 대선 후보 때부터 전반적으로 국민의힘의 대구경북 공약을 지원하거나 빠르게 수용하겠다는 뉘앙스가 많아서 조금 고민이된다.”면서 “대구 지역 발전에 대한 구체적인 판단도 정치적으로 필요하고 이후에 진행하는 부분에 있어서도 민주당 입장을 명확히 하는 것이 필요한 것 같고 그 논의를 먼저 좀 드릴 예정”이라고 설명했다.
