정의당 대선주자인 심상정 후보가 제20대 대선을 11일 앞둔 가운데 선거운동이 시작된 후 처음으로 대구를 찾아 유세에 나섰다.

26일 심상정 후보는 대구 지하철 화재 참사 기억 공간을 방문해 도시철도산업 정책 협약식을 가진 뒤 대구 동성로에서 현장유세에 나서 시민들을 만났다.

이날 심상정 후보는 현장 유세에서 대구의 GDP가 전국 최하위 수준임을 지적하며 “정치의 책임을 물어야 한다”고 강조했다.

그는 “대구 지역 95년 민선 시작부터 27년 동안 오로지 일당 독재로 운영됐다.”면서 “정권도 엄청나게 몰아줬지만 그 결과 대구 지역 대구 시민들은 전국에서 가장 가난한 도시가 됐다.”고 꼬집었다.

그러면서 심 후보는 “청년들의 미래가 빼앗기고 또 지방이 수도권 제외한 모든 지역의 지방 소멸 위기가 지금 증폭되고 있는 상황에서 양당 후보 중에 또 누가 대통령이 된다면 아마 지금 보는 이 이전투구를, 5년 내내 격렬한 진흙탕 정치판을 보실 수밖에 없다.”고 말했다.

심상정 후보는 “우리 대한민국은 지난 70년 동안 성장, 성장, 성장으로 달려왔다. 그렇게 해서 세계 10위 경제 선진국이 되었다면 이제는 시민의 삶을 바꾸는 정치가 등장할 때”라고 목소리를 높였다.

아울러 심 후보는 “4명의 후보 중에 5년 전 촛불정신 가슴에 담고 더 나은 시민의 삶을 위해서 과감한 개혁을 이끌 수 있는 후보, 기득권에 단호히 맞서서 투기공화국 이제 해체하고 그리고 누구나 집 걱정 없는 주거안심사회 만들 수 있는 대통령 후보는 심상정”이라며 “대한민국 최초의 일하는 시민의 대통령 만들어달라”고 지지를 호소했다.
