4일 오전 대구시청 별관에서 열린 '민주당-대구시 지역균형 뉴딜 정책간담회'에 참석한 더불어민주당 이낙연 대표는 "권영진 시장님께서 물산업, 의료산업 등 앞서가는 아이디어로 대구의 미래를 위하시는 모습 깊은 영감을 주고 있다. 사업들이 성공하길 바란다"면서 "저희도 대구시의 5+1 미래 신성장 사업과 경북의 뉴딜 10대 과제 등을 챙기고 최대한 협력하겠다"며 적극적인 지원을 약속했다.

그러면서 "대구경북의 공통된 희망인 감염병 전문병원 추가배치를 위해 노력하고 좋은 성과를 내도록 노력하고 협력의원 제도를 도입해서 저희 당 국회의원이 없는 지역을 챙길 수 있도록 하겠다"고 덧붙였다.

권영진 대구시장은 "특별재난지역 선포 등 전폭적인 지원을 해주신 중앙정부의 도움과 전국적인 연대와 협력, 성숙하고 모범적인 시민들 덕분에 코로나19를 극복해나가고 있다"면서 "대구가 어려울 당시에 따뜻한 격려를 보내주시고 적극적인 지원을 해주신 이낙연 대표님을 비롯한 더불어민주당 의원님들께 거듭 감사인사를 드린다"고 말했다.

이어 그는 "이제 대구는 방역은 방역대로 하면서 일상을 회복하고 경제를 다시 살리는데 모든 역량을 집중하고자 한다. 그 중심에 대통령께서 제시한 한국판 뉴딜이 있다고 생각한다"면서 “지역이 주도해 창의적으로 발굴하는 정부지역균형뉴딜이 성공할 수 있도록 열과 성을 다하겠다. 여당의 전폭적인 지원을 부탁드린다”고 당부했다.

권 시장은 특히 "옛 경북도청 자리는 경북대와 창조경제혁신센터를 연결하는 대구형 지역균형 뉴딜의 중심"이라고 설명하며 "앵커 기업 유치와 스타트업 육성, 관련 인재 양성을 아우르는 혁신 공간 플랫폼인 도심융합특구가 될 장소"라고 덧붙였다.

아울러 "이 대표님의 적극적인 관심 덕분에 2021년도 우리 시가 요구해 정부안에 반영된 예산은 3조3천1억 원으로 전년 대비 8.6% 증액 반영됐지만 여러 제약으로 신청액 대비 42.8%밖에 반영되지 못했다"면서 "국회 심의 과정에서 추가 반영이 절실한 수준"이라며 예산 신청액의 적극적인 반영을 호소하기도 했다.

이에 이낙연 당대표는 "달빛 내륙 철도를 4차 국가철도망 구축 계획에 포함되도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 약속하며 이와 함께 "(간담회 장소인) 이 곳이 구경북도청인데 땅은 문화부가 갖고 있고, 대구시가 이곳에서 펼치고자 하는 사업은 국토교통부 소관이라고 들었다. 그 문제를 해결하기 위해 빠른 시일안에 당정회의를 갖도록 하겠다"고 말했다.
