그러나 해당 여론조사에 따라 공천이 확정되었던 김재욱 칠곡군수 예비후보는 “해당 오류에 대해 인지하고 1일 경북도당에 잘못된 여론 조사가 돌고 있다고 제보했다.”면서 “이후 도당은 문제가 된 부분을 수정하고 계속 여론 조사를 진행했다.”고 설명했다.
그러면서 “모든 후보가 똑같은 상황에서 여론 조사를 진행했기에 후보들의 득표 또한 공정한 결과”라고 주장하며 “재여론조사 결정을 즉각 철회하고 4월 30일과 5월 1일 실시된 여론조사 결과를 인정해달라.”고 요구했다.
공천이 확정되었던 상황에서 여론조사의 오류로 다시 조사를 실시하게 되면서 칠곡군수 후보자 선정은 다소 난항을 겪을 것으로 예상된다.
