【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=국민의힘 대구시당 공천관리위원회(공관위)가 대구시 8개 지역의 기초단체장 후보자 공천 결과를 발표했다.

26일 오후 2시 회의에 들어간 국민의힘 대구시당 공관위는 한시간 반넘게 이어진 논의 끝에 대구시 후보자 공천 결과를 아래와 같이 발표했다.

이날 컷오프 된 현역 구청장은 배기철 동구청장이 유일한 것으로 알려진다. 이에 대해 국민의힘 대구시당 공천관리위원회 주호영 위원장은 “무소속이 군수인 달성군을 빼고 6개 지역에 교체 지수 조사와 적합도 조사를 모두 했고 중앙공관위의 공천 원칙에 따라서 교체지수가 가장 높은 상위 20% 그러니까 6명 중 1명은 공천을 배제하기로 결정을 했다.”고 설명했다.

이에 따라 공천이 배제된 배기철 동구청장과 지지자들은 공관위의 발표에 항의하며 회의장에 난입해 욕설을 퍼붓는 소동을 일으키기도 했다.

배 청장은 공천 배제 근거가 무엇인지 따지며 “지역구 의원들이 유승민 계라서 컷오프 한다는 소문이 나돌았는데 결국 표적 컷오프 됐다.”며 “사실상 국민의힘의 적장자는 자유한국당 출신의 나다. 당연히 재심 청구를 할 것"이라고 입장을 밝혔다.

그러면서 공관위와 짧은 면담을 가진 배기철 동구청장은 “이의 신청을 제기하라는 답변을 들었다”고 전하며 시당을 떠났다.

중구에서 컷오프 된 임형길 예비후보 역시 결과에 아쉬움을 내비치며 공관위를 찾아 항의했다. 그는 “억울함에 대해 다 얘기했다. 25년 동안 선당후사의 정신으로 당에 헌신했는데 경선 기회조차 주지 않는 것은 공정하지 않다”고 말했다.
