이번 협약 체결으로 아주스틸은 총 1천억 원을 구미시에 투자하게 되었으며 이와 함께 국내 유일의 스마트팩토리 종합 판금 센터와 친환경에너지 저감형 건축재 클러스터 구축과 약 200명의 고용을 통해 지역경제 활성화와 일자리 창출에 크게 이바지 할 것으로 기대된다.

구자근 의원은 “아주스틸(주)이 자동화 판금센터 설립으로 건축재 사업분야에서 입지를 강화하겠다는 투자결정을 할 수 있었던 배경에는 구미산단의 구조고도화 사업을 비롯해 첨단산업으로의 전환을 지원하는 다양한 사업들이 유치될 수 있었기 때문”이라며, “더 많은 기업들이 투자를 결정할 수 있도록 신규 국비사업를 계속 유치해 대형 민간투자가 이어질 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”고 말했다.
