권 부의장은 “35만 동구 구민 모두가 골고루 행복해 지도록 하려면, 동구의 발전이 한 곳에 만 치우치지 않고 균형 있게 발전해야 한다”면서 “현재 동구 신천동, 효목동, 신암동 일부지역은 동대구 역세권역이고, 안심지역은 혁신도시 권역이고, 불로동과 봉무동 그리고 공산동은 팔공산 관광산업 개발권역으로 발전계획이 되어있다”고 말했다.
