이에 대해 정의당 대구시당은 “시의회 규칙에 의안은 회기 10일 전에 제출되어야 하지만 ‘긴급을 요하는 경우’에는 그러지 않을 수 있고, 단체장이 하고자 하는 사업을 의원이 의안으로 발의할 수도 있지만 이는 모두 특수한 예외의 경우이거나 잘못된 관행”이라고 지적했다.

그러면서 “찬반 입장을 떠나 도시브랜드 변경이나 공공기관 통·폐합은 번갯불에 콩 볶듯이 결정할 사안이 아니라 다양한 의견을 듣고 신중히 의논해 결정해야할 사안”이라고 강조했다.

이어 “시의회는 이런 사안을 새로운 단체장이 하겠다고 하여 부화뇌동하면서 거수기 역할도 모자라 청부입법까지 하겠다고 나섰다.”며 “이런 시의회에 앞으로 4년 동안 대구시민의 삶을 과연 맡길 수 있을지 의구심이 든다.”라고 강하게 질타했다.
