이유실 대구시 감사위원장은 “학교급식이 어떻게 이뤄지고 있는지 시민들이 궁금해하기 때문에 소상히 발표하는 게 제대로 알리는 일이라 생각했다”고 설명했지만 이날 함께 발표한 ▶학교급식 운영실태 ▶시내버스 재정지원금 ▶대구교통공사 전출금 3개 분야 중 학교급식만 집계방식이 다르게 적용되어 논란은 가중되었다.

이에 대해 이유실 감사위원장은 "학교 한 곳마다 1개 기관으로 보고 집계했고 시내버스 재정지원금은 버스조합 전체에 보조금을 준 것으로 살펴봤다. 업체별로 차이가 있는 게 아니라 전반적인 지적사항이라 19건으로 집계한 것"이라는 입장을 밝혔다.

이와 같은 상황에 앞서 홍준표 대구시장이 SNS에 올린 글 또한 문제로 지적된다. ‘학교급식 운영실태 특정감사 결과’ 발표를 앞두고 홍 시장은 “무상급식 시장은 전국적으로 부패의 사각지대”라면서 “좌파들의 극성으로 제대로 된 감사가 이루어 진 적도 없다.”는 글을 게시했다.
