이에 대구시장 예비후보 상대인 국민의힘 김재원 전 최고위원은 “홍준표 후보의 종잡을 수 없는 정책 뒤집기가 도를 넘어서고 있다”며 “홍준표의 정책 뒤집기에 대구가 대혼란스럽다”며 홍 후보를 비판했다.

또한 정의당 한민정 대구시장 예비후보는 “대구 미래 50년의 방향성을 마련하겠다고 하는데 그 50년의 방향성이 어디를 향하고 있는지 우려스럽다.”면서 “대구시민이 오랜 시간 공론화 과정을 거쳐 결정된 대구시청 이전에 대한 발언도 하루 만에 정정했다. 앞으로 할 발언에는 더욱더 신중해야 할 것”이라고 강조했다..
