【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=정의당 한민정 대구시장 후보가 국민의힘 홍준표 대구시장 후보에게 추가적인 선거 토론에 나설 것을 촉구했다.

20일 오전 중구 삼덕동 대구도시철도 2호선 경북대병원역 3번 출구 인근 인도에서 기자회견을 개최한 한민정 후보는 “토론은 한번이면 충분하다”고 말한 홍준표 후보를 비판하며 선거 토론 촉구에 나섰다.

한 후보는 앞서 홍준표 후보가 “토론이 겁나면 지금 사퇴하라”고 했던 발언을 언급하며 “직접 하신 말씀 잘 기억하실 것이다. 토론이 겁나면 지금 당장 사퇴하라.”고 꼬집었다.

그러면서 한 후보는  “대구시민들은 무슨 수로 정책을 검증하나”고 비판하며 “정책선거 안 치르실 것인가? 직접 한 말도 기억 못하는 게 아니라면 대구시장선거 정도는 정책선거 필요없다는 것인가?”라고 말했다.

이어 “토론 필요 없다는 말은 참 쉽게 뱉으신다. 대구의 노동정책, 기후위기 대응, 인구유출, 청년 일자리, 저출생, 돌봄, 대구경북 통합신공항 등 대구와 관련된 현안이 수도 없이 많은데 한 번이면 되겠나?”라며 “3대 구상 7대 비전이라면서 몇 줄 읽으시고는 검증조차 받지 않겠다는데 무슨 후보 자격이 있나?”라고 강하게 질타했다.

한민정 후보는 “시민들께 검증 받기 싫다는 후보는 시민을 무시하겠다는 것과 다름이 없다.”면서 “홍준표 후보가 정치버스킹이라고 이름 붙였지만 지지자들만 만나겠다는 것이며 날카로운 정책 검증도 없는 하고 싶은 말만 하는 자리가 무슨 소통의 공간인가?”라며 지적을 이어갔다.

아울러 한 후보는 “제대로 된 민주주의를 실현하기 위해서는 다양한 시민을 대표하는 후보들 간의 토론이 필요하다.”고 밝히며 “민주주의 꽃인 선거가 이렇게 비민주적으로 치러져서는 안 된다.”는 안타까움을 전했다.

아울러 홍준표 후보를 향해 “더 이상 숨지 말고 나와 대구시민 앞에 당당하게 서주시기 바란다.”면서 “토론을 통해 시민들에게 대구의 새로운 미래를 보여드리자. 당장이라도 추가 TV토론에 임하기를 바란다.”며 메시지를 전했다.
