이날 열린 의장단 선거에서 이만규 전반기 의장이 당선되면서 대구시의회 사상 첫 연임 의장이 탄생했다.
의장 선거는 이만규 의장과, 김대현 의원이 출마했다. 32명 의원 전원이 투표에 참여한 가운데 이만규 의장이 24표, 김대현 의원이 7표를 얻었으며 기권표가 1표 나왔다.
제1부의장 선거에서는 이재화 의원이 찬성 28표와 기권 4표로 당선되었다. 제2부의장에는 김원규 의원이 찬성 29표, 기권 3표로 당선되었다.
연임에 성공한 이만규 의장은 “여러분의 선택은 후반기에 산적한 모든 일들을 잘 처리하라는 뜻”이라며 “대구시민들을 위해서 우리 시의회를 위해서 분골쇄신 열심히 하겠다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
이재화 부의장은 “대구시의회가 대구발전에 기여할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”며 “모든 의원님들이 후반기 의정활동을 통해 9대 의원으로서 의정 역량을 충분히 발휘할 수 있도록 아낌없이 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
김원규 부의장은 “부족한 저에게 직책을 맡겨주신 선배동료의원 여러분께 감사하다는 말씀 드린다”며 “의정 생활에 필요한 가교역할을 충실히 하면서 민생의회 행동하는 정치의회라는 슬로건을 가슴에 담고 충실히 일하도록 하겠다”고 전했다.
