22일 경북도소방안전본부와 안동시·예천군에 따르면 전날 오후 안동과 예천에서 난 산불로 안동에서 200㏊(200만㎡), 예천 50㏊(50만㎡), 영주 5ha(5만㎡)의 산림이 소실되었다.
이는 축구장 1개 면적을 7천140㎡로 계산했을 때 축구장 약 357개 면적에 달하며 현재까지 인명피해는 없는 것으로 확인된다.
산불은 21일 오후 3시 20분경 안동시 임동면 망천리 산341 일원과 오후 4시 12분경 예천군 감천면 증거리 23-2에서 시작된 것으로 알려지며 정확한 원인은 파악되지 않았다.
안동과 예천에서 발생한 산불은 바람을 타고 번져 영주시 장수면 갈산리 일대까지 번졌으며 소방당국은 인근주민을 긴급 대피 시켰으며, 현재까지 인명피해는 없는 것으로 확인된다.
산불현장을 찾은 이철우 도지사는 “가용 자원을 총동원하여 피해를 최소화하고 야간에 바람까지 불고 있으니 진화과정에서 사고가 없도록 각별히 유의해 달라”고 당부하며 “건조한 날씨에 도내 곳곳에서 산불이 발생하고 있으니, 도민들은 산불예방을 위해 각별한 주의가 필요하다”고 말했다.
