국민의힘 최고위원 출마를 공식 선언한 배현진 의원이 대구를 찾아 “영남배제론은 말도 안된다”며 “정치가 배은망덕해선 안된다”는 확고한 입장을 밝혔다.

배현진 의원은 21일 오전 10시반 국민의힘 대구시당에서 기자간담회를 개최하고 영남배제론을 비롯하여 중진과 신예의 구도로 불거지는 전당대회 갈등과 홍준표 의원의 복당 문제 등에 대한 입장을 밝혔다.

배 의원은 “이번 전당대회는 대선승리와 정권교체”라면서 “당에 승리를 못가지고 오면 정치적 책임을 질 수 있는 사람들을 당원들과 국민들께서 잘 살펴봐달라”며 포부를 전했다.

그러면서 최근 영남배제론으로 TK 지역의 주민들이 느끼는 고립감에 대해 “영남권 당원들의 고립에 대해서 구태라거나 당의 기여를 잘못된 방향으로 했다는 논의에 대해 개인적으로 화가 났다”면서 “열심히 지지해주신 분들께 보답하는 정치를 해야한다고 생각한다”는 입장을 밝혔다.
