20일 민주당 대구시당과 박주민(서울 은평구갑)·맹성규(인천 남동구갑) 의원, 임미애 당선인(비례대표) 등이 전세사기 피해가 발생한 대구 남구 대명동의 한 다가구주택을 찾았다.

해당 주택은 입주민 A씨가 전세사기 피해를 호소하는 유서를 남기고 숨진 채 발견된 곳으로 A씨는 2019년 전세보증금 8400만 원을 주고 다가구주택에 입주했지만 계약기간이 끝난 후 집 주인으로부터 보증금을 돌려받지 못했다.

이날 민주당 관계자들은 고인을 추모하는 시간을 가진 뒤 대구지역 전세사기 피해자들을 만나 구제 대책 등을 논의했다.

국회 법제사법위원회 소속 박주민 의원은 “선구제 후회수 방안이 담긴 개정안이 통과되더라도 대통령 거부권 행사의 대상이 될 수도 있다고 예상한다”며 “하지만 정부도 피해자들의 딱한 사정을 안다면 거부권을 행사해선 안 된다"고 강조했다.

국회 국토교통위원회 소속인 맹성규 의원은 “선구제 후회수 내용이 담긴 전세사기 특별법 개정안을 오는 28일 본회의 때 반드시 통과시키겠다”며 “22대 국회 때는 보완 입법이 필요한 부분을 찾아내겠다”고 공언했다.

임미애 당선인은 “피해자분들에게는 사실상 전 재산이나 다름없다. 법안의 맹점을 보완하는 특별법 개정안이 통과될 수 있도록 최선을 다할 것”이라며 “만약 대통령이 거부권을 행사할 경우 22대 국회가 개원함과 동시에 다시 재입법 할 것”이라고 말했다.
